The Barn Project -- August 2020

An Old Barn

The siding on this barn is oak planks.

North end of the barn.

Center aisle barn with 8 stalls on each side.

Removing the siding

Clyde on a ladder.  East side.

East Side -- more siding is coming off.

North End.  More boards coming off.

Found several snake skins left over from molting.

With the siding off, the loft above the stalls is full of light.

Clyde is taking off some siding.  Can you see the wasp's nest on his left?  Yikes!

All the siding is off now, and the loft access door has been enlarged.

Window openings are  being enlarged.

Bigger loft doorway means bigger bales of hay and straw can be loaded.

The stack of white in the doorway are windows that will be installed on the sides.

Framing lumber for the windows -- ready to go.

Framing for windows is  done!

Next step:  Styrofoam insulation.  Gotta keep the horses warm in the winter!

Tyvek stops the wind and moisture from getting in.

Last step -- the blue siding gets installed.

Blue siding on the west wall.  Getting ready to put it on the north end next.

Looks nice, don't you think?

East side.  With Amish worker admiring his job.
