The Fence Project

The fence installers arrive with equipment.   First Step:  Remove old fence posts and clear the overgrown brush.  Watch out -- there's poison ivy in there! Next, lay out the posts in the line.  Make sure it's not crooked! House in the background.  One post in. That's a post pounder in the background Post punder in action.   Next, nail in the boards.   Posts all in a row. This one looks straight and true.

The Barn Project -- August 2020

An Old Barn The siding on this barn is oak planks.  North end of the barn. North end, showing the east side.   Center aisle barn with 8 stalls on each side.   Removing the siding Clyde on a ladder.  East side. East Side -- more siding is coming off. East side.  Almost all the boards are removed. East side. North End.  Some boards are off. North End.  More boards coming off. Found several snake skins left over from molting.   With the siding off, the loft above the stalls is full of light. Clyde is taking off some siding.  Can you see the wasp's nest on his left?  Yikes! All the siding is off now, and the loft access door has been enlarged.   Window openings are  being enlarged.   Bigger loft doorway means bigger bales of hay and straw can be loaded.   The stack of white in the doorway are windows that will be installed on the sides.  Framing lumber for the windows -- ready to go. The Flooring Project -- August 2020

Downstairs, the floors needed to be replaced.   Moisture had buckled the old wood.  Back Room -- careful, you could trip on those uneven boards! Front Room -- those floorboards need to be replaced! The smallest bedroom (future bathroom) -- time to sweep up the sawdust. The smallest bedroom-- what a mess.
